Evidence of OVERHANG's Might
Last weekend OVERHANG returned to the house that they are remodeling for their own use. The band had to knock down everything in the basement and the ceilings and several walls on the top two floors two weeks ago. On Saturday, Jeff brought his dumpster and the four members of OVERHANG did what very few rock bands seem to know how to do...clean up after themselves. When it was all said and done, the band removed 8 tons of material from the house. If you break that down, that's 2 tons for each bandmember.
The use of this house will be of great financial benefit to all of the band, freeing up more time to share the many responsibilites we have to get this music into more people's hands. The increase of tasks has also brought an increase in verbal dispute, which so far has been a very positive thing. OVERHANG is developing its own identity as a band, hashing out how we will go about our business as a group. We are currently feeling out the possibility of playing shows in Eastern Cities. We'd really like to play for friends in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Boston, New York, Washington D.C. and Nashville. We're discovering that our live show has the most immediate effect on people.
We have a show lined up May 31 at Subterranean. Hopefully there'll be no riot this time. We'd like to do it as a benefit for WLUW, a community radio station here in Chicago.
