a real live band

The show went great last Friday night! One of the best shows OVERHANG has ever done and it's our first show...the first show with the new members. Joel and Grant are more relaxed, more resolute. And Jeff really whacks the drums. Nate's large bass amp gives the music more punch. Now we know who we really are as a band.

This Friday night OVERHANG takes their musical world to Trinity Christian College's campus for a student-run event called OZMO-fest. Grant will take off his professor cap and put on his rock star face for students and friends. The show will no doubt be loud and packed (the space is pretty small).

The "finished" Another Hole for You to Crawl Into: An unpaid debt to the studio in Denmark has delayed us from getting the finalized final version of the album. If we're able to get the money or work out some arrangement with the head of the studio in Copenhagen, we could get it some time next week. We have decided to put together some kind of graphics so we can begin selling the albums at shows. We will also try to sell them on our website.

Saturday the band is participating in an interior demolition of a house that we might buy as a band. It is an abandoned house on the near West side of Chicago (Logan Square) that housed terrorists for PETA and other various anarchists who left nasty and cute messages and pictures on the walls and ceilings and some hair samples tacked above the stove. I'll try to post a few pictures of the place for you.

First Show (Again)

OVERHANG will be playing its first show tomorrow night at Lilly's here in Chicago. We play at 9pm. Should be a decent turn-out since people have been waiting to hear us play for awhile now. I think we're anxious to see how different the music feels in front of an audience with two new band members. It might be kind of an emotional thing for Grant and Joel, who have had their share of trouble to get to this point. We certainly don't take as much for granted.

As slow as things have been at times, things are happening at a superfast pace now. We have lots of plans spinning around in our heads, but too much is up in the air right now to say what's going to happen with any of it. There's a possible house for communal living, a possible plan for getting Janis to the States, for starting our own studio here in Chicago, for starting a "3rd Place" that would serve as a meeting space for all the Christian artist friends we have and anyone else who's interested in hearing good music, seeing good movies, hanging out with good people and eating and drinking good food and beverages etc. We'll keep you updated as we sort through all these options.

The big moment of the future that we're all looking toward anxiously is a year from now when Joel's H1-B immigration status is up. Basically, we have to make alot of money by the end of this year for him to have a chance at the green card. So, this is the year, I guess. No sense holding anything back now (not that we ever held anything back before).
