Uphill climb

We had a great performance and discussion at the Art Institute School on Wednesday. And we had a good show at The Beat Kitchen on Thursday (look for pictures to be up on our site in the next couple of days). Lots of friends and supporters there. Yesterday, we talked with an engineer at the Chicago Recording Company and were pleased at his response. His attitude toward us totally changed once he heard our music and realized all we are trying to do with it. We're meeting with another engineer this afternoon.

By the way, you can vote for us now on the Cornerstone music festival website.

BIG week

After going to the thrift shop to find our image (Grant found a Calvinist Cadet shirt for 30 cents!), we went to a show that was cancelled ten minutes before we arrived. Bummer. But tomorrow we're playing at the Art Institute school to share our experience as Christian artists with other Christians (and non-Christians)who are artists. And Thursday is the big show at The Beat Kitchen. And most exciting of all, OVERHANG was selected out of 250 bands to be among 25 finalists for Cornerstone Music Festival's New Band Showcase. People will be able to vote on-line at Cornerstone's website--starting tomorrow--for the band they'd like to see on the mainstage (in front of approximately 9,000 people) this year at Cornerstone. OVERHANG would like to be that band. If you want to vote for us, go to Cornerstone's website or follow the link at our site, www.OVERHANGonline.com.

promotion

It took three meetings, several exchanges of aesthetic preferences and lots of hits and misses, but we've finally settled on our logo, something that will burn on people's brains like a hot branding iron--not exactly. But it does pull the spirit of our music together in an image. It helps the people to read the name properly. It's up on the website now.

Which is good, because we just passed out 200 promo cd's at The Walkmen show last night with info pointing them to our website and to our show here in Chicago, March 25.

weekly duties

We got through all the songs. Now that we have all the parts straight and our fingers in the right places, we need to focus on connecting with our audience. We should have plenty of time to think about ourselves before our next gigs in Lansing, MI and The Beat Kitchen here in Chicago.

Our starter website www.overhangonline.com is now up (thanks, Laryn!). We'll be adding to it week by week.
